Learning Through Play

Learning Through Play

In Pre-Primary we learn through everything we do. This includes our daily investigation session. Each day we choose where we would like to investigate and how we are going to use the equipment available. Our class environment has been carefully planned to meet our needs academically, socially and to keep us engaged.  Learning is fun and exciting in Pre-primary.

Mathematics

Mathematics

In pre-primary we love to learn about mathematics. We explore numbers, patterns and measurement ideas in our environment each day. We are learning to work as a team to solve problems.

Book Week

Book Week

Earlier in Term 3, we celebrated ‘Book Week’ by participating in many fun activities. We shared an afternoon of reading with our buddies and listened to award winning picture books. We attended a play to learn more about the theme of this year’s ‘Book Week’ celebrations. We even held a dress up parade.

We are proud of our children and all that they achieve and share with them a great pride in our school.

Science Week

During Science Week, we joined together with our buddies  to explore food with Mr White. We discovered how to make chicken noodle soup and we thought it tasted delicious.

Welcome to Pre Primary

Through the everyday things that we do lies an opportunity for learning.  Our Early Years curriculum focuses on three main areas: ‘Belonging, Being and Becoming’. With a play based focus, student learn about their place in the world and community. They learn how to interact with others, take turns, manners, sharing and many other social skills. Welcome to Pre Primary!

Rice and PJ Day

Raising awareness for those living off one bowl of rice a day, struggling for food and/or possibly homeless, students took part in our annual Rice Day and Pyjama Day which was established in 2019. Students raised money to help those who are less fortunate in our community. All proceeds go towards helping our LifeLink agencies.

Mud Incursion

Students had a blast at our recent Mud Incursion. This incursion focusses on sensory risk taking and creative thinking. During the incursion, groups were sent out one at a time to engage in a number of stations which included:

  • Making and decorating mud pies;
  • Sculpting with art clay, stoneware clay and natural materials;
  • Farm clay that was red and bit sandy and slippering for sliding on and to feel oozing through our toes;
  • Natural clay based face paint; and
  • Water play (no clay) and beautiful goblets and bowls.
